Spreading Easter cheer

Donations from the community have helped staff spread cheer across the District this Easter.

Sutherland Shire community member Janelle McClellan delivered around 50 activity bags to Sutherland Hospital’s Children’s Ward to cheer up the kids in hospital this Easter. Ms McClellan has been fundraising and creating these activity bags for the hospital for the past four years. Each bag contained an activity book, Easter stickers, bubbles, play dough, a painting book, pencils, a wind-up Easter Bunny toy and more! The Children’s Ward also received a generous donation of chocolate bunnies and eggs from the Bondi Lifeguards.

Easter also came early for sick kids at St George Hospital, thanks to a donation of chocolate bunnies, bilbies and eggs from the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia Parish and Community of Kogarah. Bishop Christodoulos, Nickolas Varvaris, Kathy Papas and Androulla Condoleon delivered giant boxes of chocolates to ensure kids spending time in hospital this Easter don’t miss out. The children’s ward also received a box of goodies from Arncliffe Pre-School that was so full of chocolate eggs it was bursting at the seams.

Chocolate bunnies were given to staff at Calvary Health Care Kogarah from Drew Kear, General Manager, who dressed up as the Easter Bunny for the occasion and our Diversional Therapist Suzy Flynn as the chicken. Staff were also given tasty gifts thanks to a generous donation by Lindt.

Garrawarra Centre also had a visit from the Easter Bunny, with residents receiving Easter eggs and enjoying special Easter craft activities and cooking.

Over at the Royal Hospital for Women, baby Eve hopped by to say hello to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit staff whom cared for her earlier this year. Easter was egg-stra special thanks to Eve’s guest appearance.

The Prince of Wales Foundation provided a pop up coffee cart and hot cross bun stall to say thank you to staff at the Randwick Hospitals Precinct. Chocolate was also delivered to patients and staff.
