Vicki Weeden, Acting General Manager, said the ball was a particularly special occasion as it was a chance for staff to recognise achievements over the past 125 years.

“Staff who attended were from across a large number of departments and services – this was great to see, and enabled us to come together to celebrate hospital-wide successes," Ms Weeden said.

“Congratulations to the award winning staff members and teams – acknowledging patient and community care amongst peers was a core part of the event."

Two-hundred and sixty-two staff from St George Hospital received an award for their many years of employment – a cumulative total of 4,590 years – at a celebration on Thursday 28 November, 2019.

Thirty-two volunteers were also recognised for their dedicated service – totalling 260 years.

Mark Coure MP, Member for Oatley, attended the ceremony to present the awards.

The top accolades for staff service went to John Swan and Conrad Wainwright for 35 years, and Eileen Ellsmore was acknowledged for her impressive 40 years of volunteering.

“It is a testament to the great morale and positive culture we have at St George Hospital to see so many staff and volunteers recognised at this years’ Service Awards,” Ms Weeden said.

“In total, 294 staff and volunteers were presented with long service awards – together providing 4,850 years of care for our community.”
