Courier/Handyman

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District Oral Health

“I provide maintenance and act as a courier for the eight oral health outpost clinics connected to SESLHD.  Traffic and parking is absolutely the most challenging thing about my job. Luckily, I’ve got secret routes I can take to visit each clinic every day.

One of the larger projects I’ve been involved in is commissioning the new Mobile Dental Clinic. My role was to make sure the clinic was functional and safe for patients and staff. Although it’s only one chair, it was a complicated build, so special attention had to be given to the electronics, air compression, suction, drainage, weight and Work Health & Safety.  So far we’ve had over 300 patients go through it, servicing patient’s needs at the Garrawarra Centre, Bexley Retirement Village and Goodhew Gardens in Taren Point. It was also set up in Kogarah’s public square for the St George Hospital Head and Neck Cancer screening day and was on display at the 2017 NSW Health Symposium.

The nurses at the Garrawarra Centre, our initial deployment, were incredibly helpful. The staff were amazed by how our team managed to provide such a high standard of care to challenging residents. After our visit, they came back to us to say that all the residents were sitting up in bed and grinning at each other.”
