How we can help you

Any patient experiencing hair loss because of their treatment can hire a wig from the wig library. There are a wide range of wigs in contemporary colours and styles as well as head coverings, hats, turbans, scarves and head wraps.

This service is open to all patients across NSW and managed by the Prince of Wales Hospital Volunteer Service.

Our experienced volunteers will assist you with the selection, fitting and care fo your wig. They can also help with head shaving if required.

How to find us

Ground Floor, Comprehensive Cancer Centre within the Bright Alliance Building (Building 3 on our campus map)

We are on the corner of High Street and Avoca Street in Randwick. The main public entrance is on Avoca Street. You may also enter the Cancer Centre from level 2 of the High St entrance to Prince of Wales Hospital.

If you have already experienced hair loss, please bring along a photograph of yourself before your hair loss to assist with selecting a wig or head covering.

We accept payment with cash or by card.

A one off non-refundable payment is required at the time of hire:

Product Payment
New wig $100.00
Donated or returned wig  $40.00

You may be eligible for cover under your private health insurance, contact your fund for details.

All wigs must be returned to the wig library.

Please let us know if you need an interpreter. You can contact us telephoning the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) on 131 450. Tell the operator what language you speak and then ask the interpreter to set up a telephone conversation between you, an interpreter, and the wig library.

How we can help you

We care for people who have a long-term lung conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (emphysema or chronic bronchitis), bronchiectasis, pulmonary fibrosis, and other lung conditions.

We provide education, information, exercise plans and support so you can learn to manage your long-term lung problem at home.

We work with you, your lung specialist, local doctor, family and carer.

A service to help you manage your lung condition at home.

We are nurses and physiotherapists who have specialised in caring for people with lung conditions. 

Our nurses and physiotherapists will come and see you at your home. We will undertake a comprehensive assessment of your health and provide a personalised plan to help you manage your condition and improve the quality of your life.

To be able to use this service you must have a formal diagnosis of a chronic lung condition, live within the Prince of Wales Hospital catchment area and have a local doctor or specialist who we can speak with about your care.

To start using this service, to make or cancel an appointment please telephone 9382 3486.

Can I choose the day and time for my appointment/s?

We will try and accommodate your preferences however, we have a list of patients and will visit those who are more unwell first. 

How often will the nurse or physio visit me at home?

We will review your individual health and needs and visit you at home as required e.g. we will visit more regularly if you need help to overcome a chest infection and to prevent you from getting more unwell.

We are a teaching hospital and you may be asked to be involved in research or for a student to be present at your appointment. You have a right to say no. If you do so, this will not impact in any way on the services we will provide.
