The Special Needs Dental Clinic aims to improve the health and wellbeing of marginalised people experiencing homelessness, drug and alcohol or mental health issues. Eligibility/acceptance of referrals is assessed case by case and is influenced by individual circumstances, and current service demand/capacity.

The clinic is co-located within the Mission Australia Centre Surry Hills to facilitate access for clients.

In addition to a team of dentist and dental assistants, the service employs a welfare officer who provides coordination, administration and promotion of the dental service, as well as counselling and support for clients to help them engage with other social and welfare agencies.
