How we can help you

We provide short term loans of equipment to help you manage at home and in the community.

We have equipment available to help you to walk, shower and use the toilet. There are also cushions for people who have pain from lying or sitting too long.

All equipment must be ordered and fitted by an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Registered Nurse.

There is no cost for the loan of equipment. If you need the equipment for a long time you may be able to buy it.

Equipment Loan Service

Clients who live in Randwick, Bayside, Waverly and Woollahra are eligible to access the service. We also provide a limited service to the eastern part of the Sydney City.

We will not loan equipment to a person who is a permanent resident of a Nursing Home or in a Private Hospital. A client moving out of the area or to a Nursing Home must notify the Equipment Loan Service and return the loaned equipment.

You must have an assessment by a health professional to access the loan equipment. Health professionals include Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists or Nursing staff with equipment assessment skills.

The health professional handles the installation of the equipment in your home. They will educate you and your carers on the safe use of the equipment.

To obtain a referral to a POW Community Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist, call our intake service and request a home assessment for equipment on 02 9369 0400.

Your health professional will arrange your equipment and, if required, delivery of the equipment to your home. Equipment is loaned for up to a 3 months with the possibility of extension once the initial loan period has passed. You can purchase the equipment at the end of the loan period if it is available for sale.

Lost equipment and/or damage other than normal wear and tear must be paid for. We will send you an invoice for the replacement cost of items.

Contact the Equipment Loan Pool on (02) 9382 8245 for more information.
